
The Pacific Ring of Fire
A ‘phone call at 5.00 am on Thursday morning from a person in Idaho (don’t ask!) informed us that a Tsunami was heading for New Zealand and would hit us within an hour! We jumped up and down, grabbed our passports and a loaf and headed for high ground, only to hear that the warning had been lifted. Feeling not a little foolish we went back to bed for an hour. However, later in the day we felt quite rung out by the adrenalin rush and by the fact that the pacific ring of fire is not just an interesting description for where we live. (more…)
